Not all cases require assistance from an attorney. Generally cases with only a few thousand dollars’ worth of damages and or medical costs can easily be settled on your own. I encourage you to order my FREE book, The Rule of Fives, if you are considering handling your claim on your own. It will guide you through the process and help you successfully and confidently settle your case. However, if your case involves a significant amount of medical bills, lost wages, and other damages, it is likely that hiring an attorney will substantially benefit you in the end.

The best answer to the question of whether or not to hire a lawyer is to contact an experienced attorney and seek advice as to whether or not they recommend you retain legal counsel for your particular situation. I invite you to contact me for a free, honest evaluation of your case. Again, often times I recommend that people handle a case themselves and give them a substantial amount of advice and information on just how to do it. You are always welcome to contact my firm at 847-395-2200 to seek advice on the best course of action for your given circumstances. Remember, there is never a charge unless you win.

The first question most people want answered is who will pay my medical bills? Your medical bills will be paid by one of the insurance companies involved in your personal injury claim. Which one depends on the circumstances of the accident. If it was an auto, truck or motorcycle accident then it will be the at fault driver’s insurance company that is going to pay your medical bills, lost wages and other damages in the end. In the event the other driver does not have insurance, your own vehicle insurance will cover the expenses related to your personal injury case. In the interim, your auto insurance carrier will likely have a minimal amount of medical coverage. After that has been exhausted, your health insurance carrier will kick in to cover the remainder of your medical expenses.

If your injuries were caused by an “on the job accident” then your employer’s workers compensation (also known as workman’s comp) insurance company will pay your lost wages, medical bills and if applicable, your long-term or short-term disability payments.
Injuries that do not fall into either of the above categories might be covered under a home owner’s insurance policy or a business’s insurance company. If you are not sure where to turn for help getting your medical bills paid contact Attorney Robert Edens for assistance. Your consultation is always FREE and there are no fees unless you recover for your injuries and/or other damages. Call 847-395-2200
