Summary: Defendant gynecologist performed a routine bladder neck suspension surgery on Plaintiff, age 50. The Plaintiff experienced blood in her urine and extreme pain after surgery. Symptoms persisted and Plaintiff saw two urologists who performed cystoscopies. The second cystoscopy revealed three sutures inside the bladder more than a year after the surgery. As a result, Plaintiff suffered general pain for 1 and ½ years until the sutures were discovered and removed. Plaintiff also suffered permanent injuries including severe pain with urination, inability to empty her bladder without standing up and bending, atypical incontinence with urine leakage, having to wear diapers in public, and sexual dysfunction. Defendant denied any negligence.
