$600,000 Settlement in Motorcycle Injury Case

Summary: $600,000 Motorcycle Accident Injury Settlement for a  Lake Villa, Lake County, Illinois man.  Client T.S. from Lake County, Antioch, Illinois was Awarded: An Antioch, Illinois Motorcycle driver received a $600,000 settlement after being injured in a motorcycle crash in Lake Ville, Illinois. The motorcyclist was traveling west bound on Deep Lake Road when a 16 year old driver who had just received his license less than two weeks ago took a left turn in from of the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist struck the side of the vehicle and was ejected over the car and onto the pavement. He was flown via flight for life to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital suffering from, among other things, an open-book pelvic fracture, a fractured knee, a torn meniscus, and a torn rotator-cuff. He underwent surgery and inpatient rehabilitation. His doctors indicated that he was going to be permanently disabled in many aspects of his ability to perform daily activities and would require future knee replacement surgery.

Bob Edens was able to maintain a cause of action against the 16 year old driver, based on expert testimony and accident reconstruction, which established that the driver knew, or should have known, he could not safely make the turn when he entered the intersection. The case settled shortly after the defendant lost his motion for summary judgment against this count.
